David B. Carter

David B. Carter is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Politics at Princeton University. He received his Ph.D. from the Department of Political Science at the University of Rochester in 2009.

Broadly, his research is in the field of international relations, with a focus on conflict. More specifically, his research explores territoriality and conflict, the role that violent non-state actors such as terrorist and insurgent groups play in international relations, and the use of foreign aid as a policy tool, among other topics. His papers are published or forthcoming in International Organization, American Journal of Political Science, World Politics, Journal of Politics, British Journal of Political Science, International Studies Quarterly, Political Analysis, Journal of Conflict Resolution, Conflict Management and Peace Science, Oxford Economic Papers, Perspectives on Terrorism and PS: Political Science and Politics.
